How to Prepare for Your First Consultation

I’m so glad you’re here! I put this guide together to help you know what to expect from our first conversation.

You’ll learn that I cater how I work to fit your exact needs and our first meet-up is no different! We can talk over the phone, Zoom, meet for coffee or go straight to the space you want to revamp. It’s totally up to you and what you’re most comfortable with!

Here are my suggestions if you need help deciding:

Phone or Zoom - you have general questions and are not quite sure if you’re ready to take your home to the next level with a decorator

Coffee shop - you are [fairly confident to certain] you want to hire a decorator and would like to start talking about your design loves/hates, show me photos, ask questions, etc.

Your home - you are certain you’re ready to work with a decorator and want to combine steps 1 and 2 below

STEP 1

I need to ask questions! Typically, we’ll meet for coffee or talk over the phone. Here are a few of the questions that I’ll ask you:

  1. What are things that you enjoy? This doesn’t need to have anything to do with house/home.

  2. What are things about your current home aesthetic that you want to diminish? -highlight?

  3. What are your goals in including me on this journey?

  4. What do you love about your home right now?

  5. What are 4 things that bring you joy? (not home-related unless that’s truly one of your joys!)

  6. And yes, what is your budget? This is an essential part of starting this process, so be sure to consider what you are willing to spend on your project before our consultation.

Are you eager to jump in? We can have our consultation in your home and combine steps 1 and 2.

STEP 2

This is when I will walk through your house, take measurements, mark natural light sources and start envisioning the potential! I’ll photograph everything, taking note of what you like and what you want to change. That’s my part. Your part is to make a shared Pinterest board with photos that make you happy. “Inspo pics” are so useful in portraying to me the type of aesthetic you want!

If you have any unanswered questions, go ahead and book our consultation! We’ll chat through whatever you’re wondering about.

Talk soon,

-Rachel
