Let’s Talk Pros & Cons: Do You Need a Decorator?

I’ll keep this short and to the point.

This one isn’t even a con, it’s just a qualifier. If you do not care what your home looks like OR if you love how your home currently looks and feels, you can stop reading!

If you do NOT fit into the categories above, you found the right place. Disclaimer: I am not here to woo you into hiring me. I want to help you truly decide for yourself if investing in a curated interior space will pay off for you.

  1. The first question is: what’s the ROI on this? For me, it’s having joy and peace in my environment. It’s a space that I can relax in, a space that encourages creativity and zen and contentment. For me, there isn’t a price tag on this stuff (except for the quite literal budget that I’ve set for myself because otherwise, I would be broke). This is a personal feeling that isn’t quantifiable, so I’m sorry to all the realists and data-driven people out there. Sometimes you’re allowed to decide based on feelings.

  2. Are you always buying new home items spontaneously? Are you never 100% fully satisfied with the vignettes you create? If you answered yes to either of those questions, an interior decorator may be your solution. Small purchases over time can add up to way more than investing in long-term pieces. A decorator can help you design for the long term and be your guide as to which things are worth the splurge.

  3. If you are struggling to add the finishing touches to your home, struggling to begin, or anything in-between, you could greatly benefit from hiring an interior decorator.

  4. So that brings us to money, aka our first (and only) con. Hiring a decorator isn’t cheap. It’s cheaper than an interior designer, but I understand that it’s not a flippant decision. Only you know if the price is possible for you. If it’s not in the cards right now, start saving. My customized Home Style Guide is a flat rate and a great start for someone with a smaller budget that wants to do it themselves but needs guidance.
